All standard plates cost $20.00 the first time and $20.00 when you renew your decal. Penalties apply after the expiration date. If you are under the TAVT system, you will only pay $20.00 per year to renew your decal.


Non-standard plates usually carry an additional fee when you first purchase the plate and when you renew the plate. You can choose from a variety of plates for military veterans, colleges and universities, sport teams, special interest groups and more.


Your plate belongs to you, not the car. If you trade the car in or sell it, you can keep your plate so that you can transfer the tag to another vehicle. If your plate has a current decal, the cost is only $5.00 to transfer. For plates with expired decals, the cost is the same as if you were renewing your registration (minus any taxes). If you have a plate that you really love, you can keep using that plate on future vehicles.


DecalsAttached to your registration card is an adhesive decal. On it is the month and year your registration expires, your license plate number, the county of issuance, and a color corresponding to the current year. Each year, decals have a different color.


This decal is placed in the bottom right corner of your license plate as proof of current registration. Each time you renew your registration, you receive a new registration card with a new decal. Place the new decal over the old one. If you end up with a large stack of decals on the back of your plate, you may tear off the old decals before putting on the new one. In fact, we recommend you do this to avoid loss or theft.


Some Nevada specialty license plates do not display the full plate number needed for registration renewal, law enforcement queries and other uses. All plates are listed below with the correct search prefix and the number of characters needed to complete the plate number. Prefixes are for sequential plate numbering only.


Personalized plates display the complete plate number regardless of the plate style or background and may contain the letter "0", which is diamond-shaped. Standard sequential plates do not contain the letter "0".


The number next to the code for full size plates indicates how many characters are allowed in addition to the prefix. Small plates have three characters except for the Lake Tahoe plate, which has four and the Old Timer, which has two.


The Motor Vehicle Division collects applicable ad valorem taxes, issues metal plates/decals, and registrations to automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, tractor-trailers, motor homes, boat trailers, and mobile homes.


In an effort to continue providing great customer service and convenience to Fulton County citizens, the Fulton County Tax Commissioner's Office has installed Motor Vehicle kiosks in several locations. The kiosks will allow taxpayers from select counties to renew their motor vehicle registrations and receive renewal decals upon the completion of their transaction. Taxpayers will be able to scan their driver's license, vehicle registration renewal notice or enter their tag number at the kiosks to process their vehicle registration renewal. Specialized and personalized plates are issued to private passenger vehicles only that are owned by Georgia residents. A list of all available specialty plates can be found HERE. Parking Placard (Blue Hang Tag) - Permanent placards are reissued every four years but a new MV9-D is not required. To renew a permanent placard, the person who was initially issued the placard must bring their current placard and their Georgia driver's license or Georgia ID with current Macon-Bibb County address to our office. One (1) placard is valid; multiple placards may not be issued.


Effective July 1, 2015 - If a brand new vehicle (i.e., one that has never been the subject of a sale at retail to the general public) is purchased, the state offers the option of purchasing a two-year registration during the initial registration period for a $40 fee (standard plates only). Annual registration renewal applies thereafter. Availability offered for passenger cars designed to carry 10 passengers or less only.


Specialized license plates may be applied for at our office. If the specialty plate is in inventory and all requirements for issuance are met, the plate will be issued at the time of application.
